I've been starting to go to church lately but everytime when I'm there, always cringe when they start playing that music. Or "worshiping" as they call it.
A lot of it is pretty much cheesy, watered-down rock. And to make it worst, they perform the same songs over and over again. Urgh!! Is it normal or am I being a bad new Christian?
I feel the same way. I really despise christian music despite being a christian. It's the same four chords for every song.
Yea, it's normal, after being used to quality music all your life. You either endure it or find a church with better music. Some churches even totally rock out with their music, and it's very good music to! There also a lot of different styles of music with christain messages, just google whatever type u like. For instance, google "best christain rock bands". Plus, you don't have to give up your old music entirely, unless it directly and continuously goes against your ideals, or the content draws you away from god.
Christian music has progressively gotten worse and worse over the years. Try listening to something by Martin Luther or Bach.
Yeah normal. My Moms christian and she likes Alice Cooper. She told me when I was a teen that's its not evil just entertainment. And believe it or not Alice says he's a christian. Dave Mustain from Megadeth is a born again christian. There are certain songs he won't play onstage because he feels they have negative messages. These songs go back to the beginning of his career when he was messed up on drugs.
May be the fact that you are not keen on the music, suggests that you are now sufficiently confident and expreienced in life to be able to make your own desicions without being constantly critisised and undermined by...?
Yep, it's pretty lame music with a few exceptions. My church plays a lot of classical music. It's not bad but I really enjoy it when they have a guitar communion.
I couldn't stand it... No your completely normal... I actually find it a little fake... Its good for your spiritual meditation but why is it always so soft? I don't attend church anymore because this bothers me. I maintain faith in God, but I don't believe Rock n' Roll and Metal are evil, like they would preach to me while I was in school. If your looking for some christian music with an edge, try antestor! I listen to all kinds of metal, and it honestly seems blends in.

It's normal they're music does suck! There is a difference from going to church for forgiveness and going just for the music. So your good!
I hate the music at my church... Some good Christian bands are Under Oath and The Devil Wears Prada.
