Is it normal for a 20yr old male to wear a bra for sensitive nipples

i have recently not been able to wear shirts in comfort, because when my nipples rub up against the shirt and they feel sore after a while. i have tried bigger shirts, softer fabrics, but still have the problem. undershirts just make the chaffing worse. its really beginning to bug me and the only solution i can think of is wearing a bra. bras are snug and stay in place so they wont shift like an undershirt and the fabric from the shirt will be shielded especially if the bra is padded. i have looked into bras that don't show up under clothes so i'm not gonna get one that is easily detected. i test drove a bra that i "borrowed" and went to work in it the other day and my nipples didnt get chaffed at all. i also noticed it helped my posture a great deal! but i'm gonna use my own when i start wearing them full time. link to the one im getting is below. would you women think i was weird if you saw my bra hanging over the towel rack in the bathroom after i get out of the shower?

I think you should go to the doctor and tell him about your sensitivity. It could be a symptom, and he might be able to help you. I'd do that before investing in bras.

I have to be honest, if I met a guy who wore bras I'd be weirded out and turned off, even if I knew the reason why you do. I'd ask myself why you haven't gone to a doctor or done research about it online.

Wouldn't you rather find a permanent solution to the pain rather than wearing bra your entire life?

what your saying reminds me of Andy from the office who had an issue with nipple chafing while jogging, I didn't realize that it was a serious issue with some men, It must be awful, well as a woman, i would be a little weirded out if my bf was wearing a bra but i think once you explained about how much your nipples hurt, i would accept it, i mean its not really a big deal its just not something ive heard of before

  • I guess it's kind of normal in your situation but if I were to see you wearing a bra without knowing your situation. I would of thought you were very weird.

See if you can find a playtex living bra. I think it will work for your problem.

Well the thing is i dont really want people to know i have it on. i looked up that bra you mentioned and it looks like that will show up very easily with those vintage cone shaped cups and all. that one I provided the link for is supposedly invisible under your clothes. Its pretty much a training bra so it doesnt really have cups. i just need my nipples protected i dont really want to support a bust

I wouldn't worry about it. I have the same problem. I'm also allergic to adhesives is out of the question. My doctor told me to wear a bra as well. I don't worry about it and my nips are fine.

You might want to see a doctor for your extreme nipple sensitivity. I think it's normal that you have been wearing bras especially, for your reasons. Pasties might work. They are often more discreet than a bra. With a bra you have to be mindful of whether or not it will show through your shirt. What if you get your shirt wet? And so on.

  • Dude just use plasters or microfibre tape, I have a shirt that a couple years ago used to irratate my nipples so I just covred thm wiht plasters when I wore it, it doesn't bother me now so I'm guessing it's something that will pass.

Get your nips pierced than they may not rub against you shirt. At least the skin may not

I'd say go for it, too. Two doctors told my ex-boyfriend to wear a bra for sensitive and sore nipples. First one said it and he didn't believe it, so he got another opinion. That one said it too! He had a chemical imbalance of some sort. They said bras would protect him with fabrics designed for sensitive skin backed by lots of research and science, so he might as well take advantage of that. They also said all the other options were ridiculously expensive. It took only a little while to get used to it for both of us until it was normal. He had bras, I had bras, it just meant more bras in the house. We couldn't afford the recommend male 'compression' stuff at the time and read mixed reviews about them, anyway, (shoddy fabric, hard to wear for very long - 'not much better than a straightjacket' was one comment about the male bras) so he just mostly wore regular lady's bras. Mine didn't fit so I took him for a proper fitting at Macy's. Having a woman with him made it easier for him and the clerks, and I always shopped with him for bras or for him. Not sure what he's doing now about the problem. At the time they hurt constantly so he wore them to bed because just those six to eight hours without some kind of help would bring it on something fierce. I should find him on Facebook and ask what he ended up doing.

I think bandaids are a much better idea. Have you tried going to the doctor to see what's up?

Sore nipples....band aids work....wearing a bra, seems too much to me. Just my 2 cents

Have you tried bandaids maybe? I mean if you feel weird at all about wearing a bra that is. Or maybe those little pasty flower things women use to keep their nipples from showing through their clothes.
If you're comfy wearing bras, and they're the only thing that fixes the problem, then go for it.
