Is it normal for a 21 year old to flirt with a 15 year old?

Well when I was 15, I met a boy online who was really nice to me, and flirted quite a lot! I didn't know his age at the time but it didn't really affect me, but now I have a boyfriend, and he knows now that the boy I spoke to from when I was 15 is the boy that flirted with me and sent me pictures. He was 21 when i was 16! So I had known him for a little but over a year! When I speak to him, he doesn't seem like a 21 year old and it doesn't really cross my mind until my boyfriend reminds me of the age difference. My boyfriend becomes really jealous and doesn't understand why I want to still speak to the boy if he flirts all the time? I mean, I can understand why he would be thinking of how that boy used to send me pictures and flirt, but now he doesn't send them anymore! But still flirts! I've told him to stop but he hasn't! So now my boyfriend thinks I'm not being harsh enough and that I'm losing my self respect! The boy I speak to is really close to me and other than my boyfriend, he's the only one I talk to and trust! Is my boyfriend being too protective? I know I don't flirt with the boy so I don't see why my boyfriend gets so jealous? The past is the past and I've changed and I don't flirt when I'm in a relationship!! Help me please!

No, you're boyfriend is not being too "over-protective". It's not like he's your dad or something and he's not letting you date. He's your boyfriend and he doesn't want you to be seduced (or worse) by this mysterious virtual stranger. Most boyfriends wouldn't put up with that, so I think you should show him a little respect and quit talking to Online Dude.

Some good advice here from others.

I also wanted to state that you are still quite young. You may not want to give up other 'boys' in your life for your one present boyfriend.

I suppose you'll know when you get the right boy one day, as you won't want to talk sexually to others.
In the mean time, stay safe and don't let this older boy into your life more so than he is now. Because he is breaking the law by trying to start something with you. Tell him to find a 20yo to 'chat' with. There are plenty highly sexed 16yo boys out there that will chat with you all day, lose the adult.

There's a difference between 16 and not having reached the age of majority and prepubescence in terms of some of the comments made here. That said, you - OP - need to be more mature on this on-line activity as a 16 year old.

So what about your judgement? This is an on-line fantasy about an identity-less and total stranger who could be anything and anyone - yet you elevate him to quite a position of trust and confidence. That's a bit risky, and again, only on-line (e.g. not a very real relationship).

Maybe your boyfriend is not that jealous, but rather, is concerned for you. In any event it is your responsibility to be more appropriate on-line - and if what you need is more friends, try the real world.

your title didn't really explain the whole problem but.. whatevs.
it's not ok for a 21 year old to flirt with a 15 year old in any circumstance. that's borderline pedophile.
but your boyfriend shouldn't be jealous because you haven't seen him or anything, and you aren't planning to be with him

You are not treating your boyfriend very nice by continuing the relationship with this other guy, knowing that he is flirting with you and won't stop even though you have told him to. That is my opinion.

BELIEVE ME WHEN I TELL YOU he just wants sex from you and acts like a friend maybe in his mind he convinced himself that he wants to be your friend but would he still be your friend if you were the same age? Don't think so. If he flirts its in hopes of getting you to bed one day. I KNOW how a guys mind works you don't it may sound crazy to you but its the truth. Why do you even talk to him? I make sure my girlfriend never talks to guys like that like what's the point?
