Is it normal for a 19 year old girl to date a 26 year old guy?

I'm a (almost) 19 year old young woman who is very mature for my age. I just graduated high school. I have a friend who is 26 that I talk to on a daily basis and am starting to like as more than a friend. Would it be a bad idea to be in a relationship with someone who is 7 years older? My parents are 10 years apart so I know it's not completely frowned upon but they met when they were close to 30 and 40.

Well.. In a way.. yes. It's normal. I've also been flirting/chatting with a man who is 26. (I'm almost 19, also)

And all that I can say is that it is best to wait at least 2 more years before you decide to go serious with it. Yeah, I know, it's only 2 years. But between the ages of 18-21 a lot can change in your life. You must also consider the fact that he has had way more experience than you. So, even though you claim to be mature. That does not change the fact that both of you are in a different stage in life.

You just started school, and he most likely finished college/lives on his own. So in a way, just that situation can be a bit problematic. But anyway, It's really up to you. Just continue talking and see what happens.

I just think that the guy likes to use the younger girl purely for his sexual fantasies.

I met my husband when I was 19 and he was 26.

We are happily married and I wouldn't have it any other way.

I Think it's completely normal, why wouldn't it be? As long as you're not underage (which you don't seem to be) and it's legal, age is nothing but a number.

I would say 7 years is not an issue at all :) Honestly its how you feel about it. I have an 11 year age gap in my relationship but it doesn't bother us. We are get along fine and love each other. Age is just a number really. If others have a problem then it is their issue and not yours :D I wish you the best of luck!!

Wow, I just got a flashback of my thoughts 8yrs. ago. I met my husband (who was 26 at the time) when I was 19. It's been 8yrs. Now we have two kids and a great relationship. Go for it!!! What's the worst that can happen? If it doesn't work out, leave him and move on.... Good luck :)
