Is it normal for 18 and 35 year old females to be friends?

idk, it seems sort of weird to me, cause of the vast age difference, but what do you guys think? can women (or men, doesn't matter) be friends, even if they have a vast age difference like this?

    Why wouldn't be normal??

You're just talking numbers, it's the maturity level..
Either your 35 year old friend has a maturity level of an average 18 year old, or you have a maturity level of an average 35 year old.

Or they could both be 26½.

In my first job I was 18 and socialised out of work with a 32 year old female colleague, a 34 year old female, a 37 year old male, and a 52 year old female. I was the brunt of a lot of jokes but we all got along.

It's good to speak to older people. They know some of your future because they ARE it.

sometimes you just "click" with people that are vastly older than you, doesn't mean u cant be friends, if you get along go for it! nothing wrong with it and same with me really, i tend to get along with people way older than me ( im 18 by the way) even grandmas and grandpas :P

It depends on the nature of the friendship I suppose and if the friendship is headed towards ... more, or if it's completely platonic.

(if headed for more than friendship, i'd suggest waiting until the younger one is 21 or older just so you can both be complete adults for the relationship).

The downside of course to being friends with someone who's 17 years younger is that... first off, you're old enough to be Mommy or Daddy. This may not matter so much when you're both over 21, or over 25 even but when one is barely an adult there could be strong dominance of the adult over the teenager.

Plus the interests of both can be vastly different.

i mean personally... i'm just thinking of when I was first in Japan. I went out with a group of people and found out that one of them was young enough to be my kid. That felt weird. And it didn't help much when he acted immature.

It's normal. I'm turning 21 in a couple of weeks and a couple of my online friends (who are also female) are in their mid to late 30s.

    I'm 23, not 24. Darn typo.

I'm 24 and have friends of various ages. I find I get along better with the more mature crowd and younger teens. I have friends ranging in age from around 10-80, so I think it's totally normal.

Its cool, man. I'm 31 and most of my current friends are over 40. I also get along great with the 18-20 year olds at my frequent coffee spot. Its good to know people of all ages.

Sure, age is only a number. What matters is maturity level, and if you share common interests. I have a friend who is a 20 year old male and some of his friends are 40-some year old females. I'm 19 and my mom works with a girl who's 31, and we chat it up. :)
