Is it normal, extreme period pain, please help?

Okay,so I have very bad periods regularly. However about two summers ago I was on a camping trip and got my period.it was early in the morning so I was showering in the community showers at the campground. I was in so much pain from my period,I collapsed on the floor. I was seeing spots, I was unable to move, and I felt like I was going to vomit. I was dry heaving. I was having diahrea (sorry tmi) afterand was extremely light headed. I felt like I was paralyzed! It hurt to breathe and talk and I laid there for a very long time. I eventually made it back to my camper and fell asleep.I felt better after waking up. It's only been this bad once. I went to the gyno and was examined. I was 16 at the time. I just want to know if anyone has experienced this,or has any insight as to what was happening to me! Its the worst I've ever felt!

You may have cysts. What did the doctor say? Some woman control pain with birth control, but you can also use a variety of herbs to encourage healthy menses. Warm baths and heating pads can help too.

You should also check your diet to make sure you're getting proper nutrition.

The gyno diagnosed my with cysts on both ovaries, and possible pmdd. I was placed on birth control (yaz) but had to be taken off of it because it raised my blood pressure so high I was rushed to the emergency room.as you see, this has turned into a long chain of events. Thanks!

Oh god, Yaz is one of the most dangerous birth control medications out there. D: I wouldn't touch that shit at all, I've heard too many horror stories about that and several name brands that I'm just not remembering right now.

I don't take any kind of birth control anymore thanks to too many bad or weird reactions to different things I've tried, though I want to try to get back on something because just relying on condoms makes me nervous. I'm thinking nuva ring if anything, it's the lowest possible dose of hormones.

But if your cramps are regularly bad, I rely on ibuprofen and weak muscle relaxers (which I'm not even perscribed and cant get often) to get me through, though my symptoms aren't nearly as bad as the attack youre talking about. They don't even want to give me the muscle relaxers becuase they're "habit forming". Maybe to some people but not the girl who can feel fucked up on a 5mg Vicodin...

Although the episode you described is unusual, it could have been a combination of something else (perhaps something you ate at camp) and your period that just happened at the same time. The falling, diarrhea, spots, etc. sound a lot like MSG poisoning and even people who haven't had problems with MSG in the past can suffer an acute episode from eating food containing MSG as a preservative.

Teenage girls often have debilitating cramps with their periods, sometimes accompanied by cold sweats and diarrhea. The cramps usually become less debilitating when a woman gets into her 20s.

This happened to me once and thought it was because of diarrhea and the fact I was on my period was irrelevant so I didn't think about it much and stayed home for a day.

Go to the doctor and don't take the medications as they are dangerous. Instead, try to find a herbal alternative.

I've had cramps almost this bad, every month I just lay in bed crying because they're so bad. I've never been extrememly light headed like that before though. My doctor told me to take alieve for the pain since it's supposedly stronger than midol. So far it's worked for me, it doesn't completely get rid of it, but helps tremedously! Maybe you could try that. Also, I did take birth control to try to ease period pains, but it just spread the pain out throughout the whole week compared to just the first day of my period. I hope this helps.

That's definitely not normal. You need to talk to a gyno, maybe several if one doesn't fix you. I saw that you had health issues with Yaz, so oral contraceptives may not be the answer (although they all affect different people in different ways). Maybe you could try an IUD?

Sorry I can't be more help, but you really should see doctors about this. Extremely painful periods are not normal. I hope you get better!
