Is it normal everytime i listen to edm i want to get high?

I've struggled with molly (ecstasy/mdma) addiction in the past and have been sober for a few months. I used to roll mainly at EDM events, so now every time a trap/house/electronic song plays I'm flooded with memories and have this crazy urge to roll. Its come to the point where I can't listen to EDM without getting anxious. Is it normal for me to want to get high just from listening to music? I'm a big fan of electronic music and would like to listen to it without the fear of becoming addicted again.

It's not only normal but very common. Addictions always come with associations and for a while during the process of sobering up it's good to not expose yourself to those triggers if you want to succeed. It's like that feeling you get when you decide to get some and you already feel high just by the thought of it, your brain is programmed to expect a certain sequence of events and your body anticipates the effects of what you're about to do. Also, we are creatures of habit so if you listen to the music you used to while getting high, you'll naturally want to follow with getting high, out of habit. I must say it's nice when you finally are able to do something you enjoyed very much but would associate with the use of your drug of choice. When you do it and the cravings are gone, you feel like you've conquered it and it's possible to do and enjoy those things that seemed lost. I'm not completely positive about this but I think the feelings and memories associated will remain forever, except they will be less intense and more manageable.

Molly fucks with your nerves way too much. I tried it last year and the sound of a friend's phone ringing made me anxious because he got an emergency call while we were all rolling. Every time I heard it afterward it sounded all foreboding and stuff. Many things seems to trigger it and I had this anxiety for at least 3 months after trying it. I think it's best to avoid anything that triggers it because that type of anxiety feels like shit. Electronic music is made for rollers so I don't know if you could ever listen to it without the urge to roll. Maybe if you can learn to appreciate it soberly?
