Is it normal calling a friend just to know how is he/she?

I want to know if you call your friends just to speak a little bit of everything, but nothing important, I mean "chit chatting", or if you call them to talk about something relevant, a real topic.

Depends on the friend. These days it is usually to discuss something relevant. But some I just call to chit chat. Especially the ones who live far away.

What would make one think this wasn't normal to begin with.

I wish my friends would call me just to talk, they only call when they want something from me.

Yes, that's normal. Who doesn't? Just be careful not to call too often, you might become annoying. If you got a lot of friends, you can vary. At least that's what I do.

If they are true friends then they should not become annoyed at all on how many times you ring them.I personally feel that if u truly mean something to that friend then they would love to hear your voice.

I was about to tell her that too!
I don't care how much they call me, but even they're my real friends, I try to not "annoy" them, with too many calls.
I know it might be confusing but I think you both will understand me.

No, I don't have too many, just two or three.
However, I do not call them too often neither, I am very careful about it.
