Is it normal black people discriminate against dark skin black people?
I never understood it. Black people will have something to say to a person who acts racist (which everyone have every right to not tolerate racism) BUT will discriminate against their own race. For example I've personally heard black men say things along the lines of, "A light skinned chick looks better/is better than a darker girl," or "She's too dark." Oh and by the way I consider myself African American.
It sickens me. I find that even my long-time boyfriend might see color, telling me things like I'm the first light girl he's dated. I have moments when I think that if was dark skinned he would feel a certain way about it (but for what?). But I'm speaking on black people as a whole. Are black people that obsessed with color that they don't realize this is discriminatory and degrading also? That black people of a lighter skin shade aren't automatically better or more attractive?
