I'm 30 y/o woman and I'm not sure if the way I was disciplined as a kid would be considered abuse or if it's still considered acceptable spanking.

I was a strong-willed kid & got into trouble all the time, & also was raised by a young single mother. She'd always warn me first, but if I messed up again, it was over her knee.

Usually I got it with the belt & always bare bottom over her knee in her bedroom. Depending on what I did I'd get anywhere from 10 whacks to dozens more. It was hard enough to where I was crying & red the next day, but not so hard to leave long lasting marks.

She always talked to me about why I'd be getting spanked & hugged me after. The spankings stopped when I was around 13.

Would this be considered abuse or is it normal discipline?

    Was it considered abuse at the time, no. Is it considered abuse now, yes. Do I consider it abuse, maybe.

    Sorry to be so vague, but to me the whole corporal punishment thing is a grey area. I had a step-father that would beat the shit out of me for the most trivial things, which was abuse. I also got caned at school for doing some stupid stuff too, which in hindsight was justified.

    My wife was spanked OTK at least once a week until she was 21 by her dad. She was strong willed and still is. She didn't have a mom so dad had to do all of the spanking. He had her go nude all of the time when they were at home so all of her spankings were on the bare butt.
