I noticed something. Gamer nerds and anime fanatics tend to be some of the smarter people/kids/students. Most of them tend to be very intelligent. Most anime nerds I know got great grades and most of the gamers I know are brilliant or computer hackers/nerds. Even though to a lot of people these type of people are considered dumb.
I'm both of those things and everyone always say i'm highly intelligent and while i'd love to spend my life playing video games and do most of the time whenever I can I also enjoy learning new things and reading.
I'm good with computers, writing things such as poetry and stories, editing videos to music e.g. I guess i'm just a pretty talented chick overall.. XD Oh I'm even a good artist.

Omg not even close, some are, but many of them are quite dense. They, like all groups, tend to reflect the general population intelligence wise.
It's like the old myth about serial killers being smart, studies showed that 100 of them had the same intelligence level as 100 people from the general population. This applies to almost every "group" or "type" of people, some dumb, most average, some smart.
People don't become intelligent through any form of proclivity, they are born with a certain ability (IQ). I had smart parents, so through genetics I was lucky enough to come out with a flat 118 point IQ.
70% of test takers will score between 85 - 114. So most "Gamer nerds and anime fanatics" just like all other groups will take up a large part of that overwhelming percentage.
I dont think all serial killers were all smart. Considering how many of them get caught I think its easy to say most of them are not smart enough to pull off a crime. Also anyone can kill for any reason. Some are actually brilliant and get away with it for years. Con artist I think are probobly a lot smarter.
It was simply an observation. I notice many of them are intelligent. Most of the kids in my school that were valid Victorian and honors were all anime nerds. Most of the gamers I know are very book smart or very computer suave.
A lot of gamers happen to be great with computers. My point was a lot of people in these groups tend to be very intelligent. Yes this does not always account for social or common sense always.
There might be an exception but a lot of them seem to be very intelligent.
Well the serial killer getting caught actually has very little to do with their intelligence in the first place, the FBI has always stated that they get caught out of "dumb luck" most of the time. The most "successful" serial killer in American history was Gary Ridgeway, he killed near 50 women over 20 years and he was actually "slow" with an IQ of 84. Then you've got the "tool box killers" one of them a guy with a near genius IQ of 138, they last about five months.
I was just pointing out that the FBI has tested them and found that they have exactly the same IQ ratios wise as the rest of the world, some dumb, most normal, some really smart.

And carpenters are good with wood. If you use something alot you get good with it, doesn't mean you're smart at all. You're born with a certain level of intelligence, that's why peoples IQ's don't change, you can improve it slightly by exercising the mind often but only by a few points. Because it is more or less a set thing.
Actually, my brother is a gamer and sometimes watches anime and I would agree that he is very smart. However, he also has an entourage of friends that I know for a fact do not get good grades and can be really stupid. Then again, I also noticed that the smarter of the group tend to be better gamers. So, I guess it depends.
Maybe they are not considered "dumb" but are thought of as being socially inept. Social intelligence is important too.
You have to be a little stupid to waste your life playing video games. Book smart? Maybe. Common sense? Doubtful.
Whoa there, this sounds like another case of someone judging negatively simply because they don't play games at all or as much. It is just a hobby like anything else. Plenty of people watch TV for hours and hours, they don't make any shows themselves, but they watch. Lots of people like music, they might not play an instrument, but they listen. Some like to read books or draw, they may not create novels or artwork professionally, but they still do it. They can do these things all day and saying any of these people lack common sense for enjoying a hobby is silly so what justifiable reason do people bandwagon dislike for gaming?
I am talking about the guys that play 12-14 hours a day and have no job or life outside of gaming.
If that is all you ever do yes. Something you might not realize is video game nerds MAKE video games. A lot of video game nerds are great with computers as well.
If they are making them that is a different story. I am talking about people who just play them all day.
Playing video games all day is an actual job. Its called a video game tester if you have never heard of it. You get paid to do it.
As a person inside the world of otakus and games, I will tell you without a doubt that this is wrong. Their intelligence is just average. In fact, I will go as far as saying that they might actually be less intelligent than the average person, since they are usually socially inept as well.
What confuses you is probably this: it is not that otakus and gamers are more intelligent, the thing is that smart people usually have these hobbies. You should analize this the other way around.
Yes that is my point. I also myself fall into one of these categories. That is the only reason I noticed it. Most of the kids who graduated honors were known anime nerds. The kids who are great with computers are some of the biggest game freaks I have seen. Another thing is saying that many intelligent people have these hobbies means they make up a percentage of the group. Which is to say that a lot of gamers and anime nerds are above average intelligence. They also tend to be the extremely dedicated fans. My sibling is a gamer and my sibling was always extremely intelligent. Without really trying either.
I've always noticed that too and I haven't been able to understand it cos they spend so much time playing games and watching anime how do they find time to study? I kinda just came to the conclusion this type of person is born highly intuitive. I suppose problem solving in games would be a bit of brain training too.
Liessss. I love anime and I am a mega gamer and some gamers r not smart and the ones that r smart, a lot of them r so lazy. My cousin for example play games 24/7 he is the smartest guy I know but yet he failed 12th grade becuz he never went to school, he stayed at home and played video games all day. Everyone thinks he is stupid but I know he is so smart, he just is stuck n the gaming world (that addiction is hard to break!!! Trust me, I know!!!). There is a difference between nerds and geeks. Nerds are smart and geeks are the ppl who look like nerds and r losers but they are not smart. Don't get the two mixed up becuz there are a lot of geeks out here who ppl think r nerds and those ppl try to cheat on their papers at school and they wonder y they keep getting F's. Its 'cuz the guy u think is a nerd is really just a geek. Just because the person wears glasses, snorts, slouches or is weird and loserlike does not mean they r a nerd LOL.
Not all gamers and anime nerds but a good amount often are. I also know a lot of nerds who are gamers and into anime. In fact the valid Victorian for my school was a huge anime nerd. I also never said that all nerds snort, wears glasses, slouches and are losers. That is a negative stereotype and you might hate nerds but I am sure a lot of them are smarter then you. I am sure the only reason you frown on intelligence is the fact you are probobly very stupid yourself.
