I'm an Israeli that wants an indian dream catcher.. Tattoos is a matter of taste and you can do whatever you want.
My brother is English and has a Chinese tattoo. Admittedly, I'm sure he only did it for a fashion statement as opposed to him having any interest in Chinese culture whatsoever, but that's fine. He always wanted to be David Beckham, and I always wanted to be David Attenborough.
Just be carefull where you get it, ask yourself this question: Do i want to see myself with this tatoo on that spot in 30/40 years time? Also if you want to get a african tribal tatoo its best to actually travel to a country here to get your inspiration, instead of something that looks african but actually isnt
Hiya,
I’ve always wanted to live in a tribe & chant & pray to the spirits of the dead or something, but I know that won't happen, so I settle for “worshipping” (I don't mean that literally!) various musicians & having the odd chant on my laptop. If I’m going somewhere where I know I’ll have a hard time I’ll print out a daft picture of one of said musicians with wings on or riding a dragon or something & their words/lyrics on. I don't pray to them though. Honest.
I've got a bracelet with the Ghana flag on that was given to me by an absolutely lovely woman, but I can take that off. Just because you like African culture now, doesn't mean you will in 10 or even 5 years, then you'll be stuck with the tattoo, & if you aren't even half-African and have no relatives who are, & people see it, it'll just look weird.
I'm half Chinese and i find Chinese characters very beatiful and Chinese history very interesting.
Therefore i got a big tattoo with Chinese characters on my forearm, which i have never regretted and still find beatiful (it's only been about two years though)
Do with your body what you like (just dont do it in a bad place like your neck, face, hands, etc), if you ever want a decent job :D
No more unusual than non-Asian people who get tattoos of Asian pictograph "letters" which supposedly have a meaning. I often wonder, though, if people are think they are getting the Chinese pictograph for 'honour' when in fact the one that's tattooed on them actually means 'soup' or something...lol!
I have kanji tats. I wanted a certain saying but I have my suspicions that they actually read "fried rice and one egg roll".
Why not? People get kanji all the time. Actually, I'm an American and I have a Japanese kanji symbol on my foot. Tattoos shouldn't be about impressing others. It's self expression. What you like and what it means to you.
