Is it normal a 42 yr old man to be attracted to an 18 yr old woman?

I'm 42 and within my circle of friends have been the only one against dating younger women. I'm not disgusted in it, I understand why the majority of men would want to. I've even had issues with dating 26 year olds, who seem to be the ones who have been attracted to me lately. I recently went to a venue and saw a talented young lady who instantly attracted me. We shared eye contact. I knew she was young, possibly 25, but in this case thought I'd make an exception and speak with her after the event was over. During the event her colleagues congratulated her for, "just graduating.." It took me a few seconds to realize she was likely 18 or 19...After some minutes of thinking I felt like an old pervert and left without speaking to her. Is this normal? am I an idiot?     Normal to be attracted, not normal to start anything. She's young and naive, don't mess with that.

    As we get older we have a larger pool of women that we find attractive. A twenty year old guy wouldn't normally be attracted to a 45 year old woman, but a 60 year old guy would, and he's still going to think the twenty year old girls look pretty hot. So, if you're a guy who enjoys looking at attractive women, it just gets better with age.
    If you're interested in DOING something with women significantly younger than you most of the time it's not practical, especially if your interested in a LTR.
    You are from different generations, different music, dances, social cultures, histories, etc.
    A girl in her twenties is in her prime, and a guy a generation older is in his decline. He may not notice it yet, but even if they have a great sexual relationship, it isn't going to last long.

    It is only considered "weird" if you have children, and are dating a woman their age.

    I don't think age (for adults) has much to do with how successful a relationship is. It has a great deal more about shared interests and compatibility.
    If you can find an 18 year old who shares your interests and you hers, then everything should be fine.
    But if she wants to party till 3AM every night and drink and do drugs, then sleep the day away, I think a 42 year old man would soon become bored with such a lifestyle, no matter how much fun she was in bed.
    Test the waters and see how it goes, just do so slowly, so neither of you gets hurt.
