Is it normal... to smell food before eating it?

Ya smell is taste

well you need to be careful here. some things smell terrible but are actually delicious, poo for instance....and some things smell good but taste awful, like flowers

My family makes fun of me for this every time I try something new! Thanks for proving I am not the only one who does this.

before i eat i turn my apple around inmy hand and make sure there is nothing nasty on it.. >_>

I do that and my friends stare at me like im crazy.

I feel the same way. There a couple of foods that have different tastes to me but it's almost always a good way to gauge whether I'll enjoy the food or not.
