Is it normal... to feel like this?

So I think what I feel is guilt, but I’m not completely sure. I’ve never been good at guessing subtle emotions. Strong ones like anger and happiness are easy.

Scenario:
You’re in a store and you see someone make a mistake and someone else tells them this. The person may either be embarrassed, apologize, or shrug it off. Doesn’t matter.

In scenarios like that I get like REALY guilty or shameful, or something for that person. The person could be a complete stranger too.

I just always get this intense feeling. I’ve always assumed it was guilt, like somehow I was feeling that person’s guilt?

Isn’t that just what’s called “cringe”? Although I don’t know why you’d feel bad if they shrugged it off, but everyone’s tolerance is different. cringe is like a subset of empathy.

I think you’ve got low self esteem and are constantly looking for ways to persecute yourself. You need to work on it.

You're a HSP, highly sensitive person.
    Very strong empathy.

  • I think I know that

Kinda like a chord that snaps, a chilly wave emanating from it?

I think guilt's a good name for it, but probably a misnomer sometimes

I do think that's empathy, you're going through the emotions of the person you're observing. You probably have felt things you've felt yourself that make seeing something like that so relatable and understandable

  • I realized this is probably just empathy now.
