Is it normal - is there a song that makes you stop and listen?

Is there a song that forces you to stop whatever you're doing an listen to it because it distracts that much?

Can be ones you love....or ones you you really hate!

I'm liking Rhianna's "Stay"
Try as I may, I cannot do anything but stop and listen and can only continue what I was doing when the song has finished. There's lots of songs I like, but I've never had a song do this to me before!

Thanks for reading!

There are many that always make me stop what I'm doing:

David Bowie - Ashes to Ashes
    Blondie - Atomic
Talking Heads - The Big Country (odd choice, I know)
Madonna - Like a Prayer (shrug)
    Sinéad O'Connor - Nothing Compares 2 U
Paul Simon - The Obvious Child
    Portishead - Glory Box
    ELO - Mr. Blue Sky
The Beatles - A Day in the Life
Bob Dylan - Subterranean Homesick Blues
The Beach Boys - I Get Around
The Rolling Stones - Paint It Black

It's my favourite five minute break from work song. When I've been concentrating hard and my brain is tired, the song kind of goes through my brain like a magnet and puts everything back point in the direction it should be, then I feel completely refreshed (and happy) and ready to roll again.

P.S. Welcome to the site, by the way, if nobody else has welcomed you yet. Your contribution has been really positive so I hope you stick around. Oh, and Merry Christmas. :)

Ahh, that's why most of us are here. You'd be amazed, for instance, how many people find this site after something like a relationship break-up. I certainly did. :)

Currently the Beastie Boys "Make some noise" makes me waste a lot of canned beer.

HA! I find it so funny that the song is called Stay! I've never heard it before, I'm going to Youtube to see if this song has hypnotic powers which mean that anyone who hears it has to stay and listen.:D

I know what you mean, though. If I hear I song I like I do a bit of a double take, and then I sometimes listen to it. It make me smile when I hear music I like played and I didn't expect it. That sort of thing makes my day.

    Plenty. I'll list them.
    No Air
    Tears in heaven
    Through the wire
It'll all get better in time
    Everybody hurts
Airplanes. The wierd thing is though I could never take to the song when it was first born and this girl group came on and sang it on x factor and I fell in love with it.
    21 questions
The way I are. I listened to it all the way to Paris and back. x

The song no air got me through a dark time in my life. I think music always does!. I have more songs to put on my list
Wherever you will go (The calling)
        Ironic
Somebody that I used to know. It's really weird that you can be so close to a person and fall out or lose contact and then see them in the street and walk past them like you don't know them or never knew them).
        Don't cha.
        Everybody hurts. xx
