Is it normal....i can't figure this out.

I'm 19. He is 40.
We worked together. He quit. We went on a date & got it in.
Saw him again, then he quit talking to me for almost a week.
Went out of town, he finally bothered to call. Asked why I left, I said I had nothing better to do. He said I did, him. Asked me to stay the night when I got back. I got back, slept there. Got up, went to work. He got all upset right before he left because I almost didn't kiss him bye.
Well, why would I think I even should if he doesn't call me? That was a few days ago. We haven't talked. I try to text him sometimes, he never replies. So, I really have no way of asking what this is until I see him again... And by then I probably won't ask because it'll be like a week before he calls and I'll be kinda upset and assume its just sex. But, we watch tv and talk and stuff too... So idk.
Idk what it is. I would like opinions on what it is... And I want to know if it's normal to be involved in something I don't know what it is.
