Is it noraml to have pain in your throat after runnning outside?

I have had this problem for as long as I can remember. When I run inside I'm fine, no problem, but when I run outside even for 2 minutes, I get a harsh pain in my throat that takes about forty five minutes to go away. It causes me to cough a lot and eventually stop running. Is this normal?

  • I hate that, it's so painful :C But like other people said, I think it's caused by breathing in a lot of cold air as you run. It's happened to me on warmer days too, though, but not as often.

You're breathing wrong, maybe? Either that or it's cold. That's the only reason it happens to me.

When I had asthma I had that same stinging sensation, especially when I would swallow.

If it's cold outside, the air you're breathing in will be dry and cooler than normal, possibly resulting in drying out your throat. What you can try is inhaling through your nose and exhaling through your mouth. That might fix it :-)
