Is it legal?

Is it legal to promise an employee salary plus commission. Then not pay them for the first two week since you said they did not show up to pick up the check in time? Then fire them since they did not sell anything after week 3?

Yes it is 7
No its not 8
Other 2
Help us keep this site organized and clean. Thanks!

They should have to pay two weeks. But they can fire you for not meeting quota.

They can use the old " Your performance was not up to our supersuperior expectations, therefore you are free to go."

It is illegal, but guess what? Employers can freely do as they wish, especially when you are in the first couple months of employment. Unless your place there is well established, you don't stand a fighting chance in the eyes of the law.

What difference does it make? You didn't earn enough money to make it worth suing and you didn't stay long enough to even pay taxes, and you didn't make any money for your employer. Time to move on and find another job.
