Is it immoral to pay/paid to be a friend?

I had this idea and often people say its immoral. I not sure how anyone sees this as immoral since it would be helping so many lonely people. The idea that you pay for a friend.

They have type of thing like this which is called "Escort" service. This does not exist in every country but it does exist. Its not the same as a hooker. Since an "Escort" does not necessarily have to have sex they simply have to spend a few hours with the person.

Now some argue its immoral since you are making people pay for a friend. However some people are incredibly awkward socially and simply don't know how to make friends in current situations. So is it immoral to create jobs and possible save a very lonely person from suicide? or is this a horribly evil idea?

    I wouldn't consider it to be immoral because both people are consenting.
    Why not be someone's friend for free though? You can really change peoples lives just by listening to them when nobody else will. It's sad that some people would have to pay for a friend.

    It's not immoral but still a bad thing : It wouldn't help people who can't have friends, quite the opposite. (Just like escorts don't help people who struggles to get laid or romantic relationships)
