as my french teacher used to say dresses should be like a good story short enough to keep the attention but long enough to cover the subjects

Normal if you're going to prom or a dance with him...

That dress is ugly and kind of out of fashion but if he likes you he won't care.

I know nothing about fashion (like most men) but if a girl turned up for a date wearing that, I'd feel like she'd really made an effort and it would make me feel more confident that she liked me.

  • It's cute for prom, but not for what you'd call a casual first date.

I work in fashion and I'd say wear a black peacoat jacket with it, it's not that appropriate for a first date

OVAKILL. IMO, it screams trying too hard, and a pinch of I'm too good for you.
First date, you need to ease into it not go flat out straight away.
Wear that and he'll run a mile..... He'll think you're too high maintenance and his wallet will be shut.

You dick! The clues are all in your question. " casual party"
You don't wear a formal dress to a casual party.... That's just douchey. Though you maybe just one of those " oh look at me everybody" girls?

Coming from a guys perspective I like the dress and think it's a good choice. It doesn't give off the wrong impression he will like it I guarantee it

Just remember, he asked you out so he obviously likes you. You don't have to try so hard to impress him. Of course if you wear that, he'll know that you really like him.

WEAR WHAT YOU WANT. Since he asked you out in the first place he obviously finds you attractive. Wear something that shows your figure and personality. If this is what makes you feel confident, then wear it! Be yourself and have fun, good luck! :) P.S. The dress is cute, not good for my shape but you can rock it I'm sure!!

i'd wear that to a party but not to a date.

a first date has to be something cute,
not something like that. maybe that's sexy and it would be nice for a posh party, or for a cool club, but not for a date!

if yo uwanna wear a dress, wear something short but normal, kinda plain...

I agree. OP, Chicks that have that girl nextdoor appeal, and are confident in themselves without trying are always the hottest.
Be yourself, wear stuff you as a person would usually wear.
He obviously likes you... Not what you think he'd like you to be.
If you wouldn't normally and confidently wear that style, it would stick out a mile and seem fake.
        Honey, just be yourself.

I rather like it myself. :) It's cute, and kinda throwback but still modern.

If you put this much effort in dressing for him, then you must be special anyway, and he will already know that. So stop being worried he will enjoy just being with someone like you

I'm personally not a fan of it. It seems alright if you want to go dancing, but for a casual party... try to find something that's a little less revealing. You don't want to catch a cold, now do you? ;)

It really is a cute dress! But it might be a bit of overkill, unless you're going to homecoming or something.

This reminds me of a story lol

In high school I had a huge crush on a girl. She was dating some popular guy at the time.

Anyway, she sat next to me in our computer class and shows me a photo of the dress she planned on wearing out with him that night.

She asked "do you think it looks nice?" To which I replied "you could go in your pajamas and still be the most beautiful woman in any room."

My point is, he asked you out. I'm sure he'll think you look gorgeous in whatever you decide to wear.

    Comment Hidden ( show )
  • I honestly think this is a really nice dress! Anyway, just wear what you want. Who cares what anyone thinks. Be yourself. And if he doesn't like you for you, he ain't worth your time lady.

    WEAR JEANS

With a cute top and a little jewelry. You need to be casual on the first date but you can still be cute

    Comment Hidden ( show )
  • I don't see why you have to abide by all these first date bullshit rules. The dress looks good, you can wear it whenever you want... What's everyone afraid of? Being offended?

Forget them sweetheart, if you are confident and you've weighed this guy up ( your mostly certain he isn't going to be like one of the first date rule abiding posters here) then you should wear the dress.

As dappled said earlier " if a girl wore that dress for me... " we'll I can say I would be smiling all evening.
