Is it ever gonna end?

Now we got guys taking their wives last names. What's next? Symbolic neutering? When does this nonsense end?

To all you progressive neutered males of today you make me sick. I'd punch you in the face and kick you in the balls if I ever met you.

Really? Then why is your masculinity so easily threatened?

        • It's not. That's why I posted this. If it was I loaded with estrogen I wouldn't bother.

But it does kind of seem like you're on your period about it, are you sure you're not full of estrogen?

No. Well always be pushing for progression until we're totally unisex.

What's so bad about taking your wife's last name instead? Especially if her family name holds more weight than yours it only makes sense.

Tell me one reason why it's wrong that isn't a super overly-manly opinion.

Yeah I mean honestly the whole idea of taking only the man's name really makes it hard to track your ancestry. A matrilineal culture would make more sense... Or hyphenate the names.

Why should anyone care about that shit?

I think it's strange to take somebody elses name, just because you are married.

We should get rid of last names altogether and use our social security numbers as first names.

My cousin Mike took his wifes last name. It had nothing to do with anything progressive. His father left my aunt with out a word when he was like 5 or 6. Never contacted his children ever again. As a result he hated his father and his last name that he inherited from him. He had no interest in passing it on to his wife and was happy to instead be rid of it and take hers.

Don't assume to know why people do things.

There must be more important things to freak out over at this time in human history.

Men taking their wives last name happens extremely rare so I don't know why it would be a reason for concern.

  • One can always have their last name as a middle name in case one chooses to change ones last name

Well, it is only a name after all. Although, I wouldn't want to take my wife's last name since I happen to be the last one in my family with my last name. If I take my wife's last name and/or don't produce my name will die. I find it strange that it's up to me to carry on the name. It's not a huge deal, but I'll admit it bothers me slightly that my name would die out.

Jack White actually took his wife's last name because he thought it sounded cool (he was right).

Correct me if I'm wrong, but they've since divorced.
