Is it better to be a pet owner or parent?

Both! Pets are easier but die quicker. Children are harder cause their smarter and they live long!

I want to be both. People may want to be both, neither, or one or the other. It all depends on the person.

It depends what you want to get out of it. Most people would get more out of a child than a pet, but you have to put in far more to a child in terms of time, money and emotional resources. You also need (well, don't exactly "need" but it would be very useful) to have another person to help you, but with a pet you don't need that - in fact the pet can do the reverse and provide you with companionship. I'd rather a pet than a person, at the moment.
