My 10 year old step daughter was sleeping on the couch so I woke her up to go to bed. Her bedtime wasn't for another 15 min. My husband and her agree that it is a punishment. Is it normal to send a child to bed when there are already sleeping on the couch?

    I don't understand how that was a punishment, she was already alseep, if anything you were helping her have a more restful sleep by sleeping in an actual more comfortable bed.

    nobodys wantin to listen to a relative snorin and wheezin on the couch

    if she caint stay awake till bedtime its a good thang so carryer into bed and be done or senderta bed earlier

    why the conflictin?

    OK,Maybe I was a bit harsh earlier but, parents need to pick their battles. A child doesn't fall asleep " on purpose" and punishing her for something so paltry seems bizarre. I think you both should not worry over such silly things. Try to be a kind, sane step parent she won't grow up to hate.

      My husband thinks that because I told her to go-to bed before her bedtime that I was punishing her for falling asleep. I can't even fathom how he can see it that way.
