Is is normal to overdose on painkillers to create pain?

I periodically take large amounts of codeine-phosphate (as found in Paramol, and co-codamol). This induces large amounts of headaches after 8 hours. I can then take ibuprofen and aspirin to relieve that pain. Then and only then do i feel normal.
Does anyone else feel like this?

    I only feel normal when I smash hammers on my knees or fall on my neck. Guess we're the same.
