I never tried matching clothes with a date. Maybe at prom, my date had the same color tie as my dress, but other then that it never really mattered much to me on a regular date.

I have fun looking at couples that don't seem to be going to the same event. I especially like the ones who don't give a shit about it and wear it well. That's what should matter, if both are happy, then it's awesome!

Once I was going out not with a date, but my mother. She looks at me and the following dialogue takes place:

-Wow! You look nice. Are we going to the same place?
-Well, I don't think it really matters, because it doesn't even look like we're going to the same country, does it?

She had a very nice Finnish overcoat on, but it was about 30•C/85•F weather.

I can honestly say this has never been a concern of mine. Wear whatever you want. Or are you concerned with what people might say if you and your date clash?
