Is infatuation always sexual?

Is infatuation always involve some sort of attraction or can it also be an intense admiration for somone? I used to have this friend that I was very close to and my mum used to say I was infatuated with her. I am straight girl so maybe my mum thought I just admired her or there was something about this person I was taken with. Little did my mum know (Thankgoodness) that I had strong feelings for her… Am I wrong in the way that my mother may have known I had something for this gal hence the infatuation? Also is love different to infatuation ?? because at the start I may have been infatuated but I did fall for her after a while I realised that

    Personally, I'd think this was another word for that magical book; the dictionary!
    Just type "infatuation" into the search bar (see it up there at the top of your screen? It's the one with the little magnifying glass in it) or you could even copy and paste.
