Is i normal to love someone and envy the person he likes?

Is it normal to love your crush. I mean i met this guy and it turns out i feel very strongly about him. I know i can get over it because he is my first love. The thing is he likes my best friend and i envy her. He is truly a special person and i feel as though i shouldn't give up and let go but deep down i know i should. I fear that i won't meet anyone as special as him. I know he well and my friend does also.I observe how they are together and i know they feel strongly about each other. Its like watching a movie or television show that type of love.

God knows i need help.

    happened to me 3 times over my 50 year life. it is natural to be disturbed if someone you idolize prefers another person to you. Ill tell you that I must have wasted 20 years of my life constantly wondering about these people. Wow what an embarrassing waste of my time and cause of pain. little by little try to get out of that addiction.
