Is he waiting for me to text him first?

My bf once said he is not going to chase me even if he misses me. He says "of course I'll miss you but I'm not gonna like go and beg for you. I don't like that." So I'm guessin he is waiting for me to contact him first after a few days of not talking since we fought over the phone. Actually, right after we fought, a few hrs went by and I thought I wasn't gonna talk to him til the next day but he actually shockingly sent me something later that night and I replied. So the next day, of course, there was still awkward tension but I thought since he did text me last night after our fight, we will talk today. I really had nothing to say to him and apparently he didn't either. We didn't talk the whole day. I thought okay thats fine but now its like the fourth day and I'm starting to analyze of course and see whats the problem. Is he waiting for me since he already sent me something after we fought and plus he says he's not gonna run after me? Worst case is he is slowly moving on and doesn't care. That's the thing I hate about him most is that he can care about something so much but if it makes him look bad in any way, in this case vulnerable or weak, then he's not gonna do something about it and he'll just let it be.
So is he waiting for me to text him?
