It is normal to act one way in public and one way at home. When I am outside of my home, I am a charismatic people person and make friends easily. The minute I walk through my door though, I just want to have a beer and watch TV. I typically don't even have guests over.
It sounds like you've created another self. I did the same thing too during high school. Without the pressure, after graduation I lost each and every one of my friends... Be careful.
I would say it is normal. At home you can be yourself and enjoy alone time. At school you have peer presure and social expectations that make it harder to enjoy alone time unless you want to be shunned or bullied. So most are going to be more outgoing at school.
