Is 125 lb. a 'normal' weight for someone who is 5'7"

I weigh 125lb, but I really want to lower that to 100lb. Is 125 "healthy" for my height? Would 100lb be underweight? I really want to get thinner legs (especially in the thigh area) and a flatter stomach.

  • I'm 5 foot 6 and I am 150! All bodies are different, but it's also necessary to have some body fat to keep our bodies healthy.

100 for your height is unhealthy. You are not over weight. I'm about 5 feet and weigh 103 and the doctor said it's perfect for me so for someone that's 5'7 it won't be.

lets put this into perspective. Male, 6'2, lifter, 195 lbs, 10% body fat. http://www.healthstats us.com/cgi-bin/calc/calculator.cgi tells me that i should be about 175 for ideal weight, since im a firefighter/lift i have higher muscle mass, so im not even close to ideal weight, however im very healthy. Really, who cares how many lbs you are its body fat that matters. http://www.builtlean.com/2010/08/03/ideal-body-fat-percentage-chart/

The heck? I'm 5'7" and 135lbs and I'm a freaking stick figure, everyone tells me I need to put on weight. But I guess a lot of it's muscle weight for me? I do fencing...

Anyway, I ramble. You have a PERFECT weight. Don't worry about it at all. If you'd like to redistribute it some, do some exercises that focus on the tummy and thighs. Given your current weight it probably won't be hard at all to start seeing a change, since you're already quite fit.
