Inn to feel depressed?

I moved to a place where I don't have any friends and I can't find a job. I feel so depressed that I don't do anything around the house anymore. I feel exhausted every day, from the minute I wake to the minute I go to bed. I don't do any chores, I don't exercise. Is this normal?

actually it is. who wouldn't be depressed living in a new place, no job, no friends.

so, how about tomorrow morning, you get up early, shower, and go to the unemployment office and look for a job. force yourself to do it. if you can't help yourself, who can? i know you can do a job search on line, but they have everything there for you to look for a job also. plus, you will be getting out of the house, getting some sunshine.

i made a major move a few years back. i was in the same position you are in now. i moved to a small country village. the first thing i did was get involved with a local charity and met people. from the people i met there, i ended up with a job.

i love it here now, and know just about everybody in town. good luck

It's 100% normal, esp in ur situation.. As an RN, I've had sooooo many patients on antidepressants it was unbelievable! Prob as many as there are on Vitamins. I swear, they should just put 'em in the water supply, like flouride! (or even Vitamins, lol...j/k, ya gotta b careful cuz of side effects)
But seriously, I think they say 25% of the population are diagnosed with depression at some time in their lives, and I'd estimate another 25-35/40% go unreported. What u have is situational depression. Depression that stems from your situation. Follow the advice from the 1st comment & you'll get thru it. If not, seek professional help & good luck!

very normal. I went through the same thing a few years ago. I also started volunteering in order to meet a few new people and eventually was recommended by one of them for a job. Hang in there and don't forget to try and get out of the house at least once a day. Check to see if your city or town offers any adult classes (in anything). They are usually inexpensive and a great way to meet new people. Also try and keep a journal about what you are going through (but write it at your local library so you are sure to get out of the house). If you still feel this depressed or worse in a few days, try calling a depression hotline - there is usually one listed in the phone book.
