Is it normal that as a kid I was able to buy my own gifts every year since the age of 13? I'm almost sure that this is not quite normal. When I say buy my own gifts, I mean I spent somewhere between $1k-3k for myself every year until I left for college. Thinking back? That was insane. Interesting side effect? I don't have the slightest impulse to buy gifts for Christmas now. None at all. You see, its the experience at Christmas that counts the most. Collecting good memories is the best Christmas gift. I do love personally created gifts though. Music compilations are great. Art is great. Simple experiences are great. Creating good memories is always a good gift.

Curious, anyone ever selfishly order your own gifts?
Have you been cured of excessive consumerism since then?
Don't you think the holiday atmosphere is the best?

    I was never allowed to order my gifts. I didn't have that type of money. Actually, wasn't allowed to access my until I was 16 or 18.

    I've stop practicing Christmas. A massive weight has been lifted off of my shoulders. I don't like holiday season. Christmas has the main focus, whereas every other celebration is pretty much forgotten. It is the epitome of materialism with Black Friday coming in second place. People's smugness, and assumptions, the horrible songs, etc. I hate all of it.

    Where does a new bike or game or phone or any other normal gift, work when you are creating your own special gifts come from?

    Christmas is the commercialization of parents going crazy getting what they can afford (or more!) for their kids.
    The only 'experience' part about xmas is you may actually see your entire family in one spot (maybe).

    Xmas is a day off for most people its not the hype you think it is unless your a millionaire air head. 1k-3k for yourself? What? Shutup, next time give actual MONEY to the poor and shove your artistic stuff up your ass.

    Whilst you create new a wondrous lovely memories in fantasy land, many starve to death or commit suicide (statistics inform me the worse time is xmas time).

    You GIVE, and that makes others happy.

      Its not his problem other people kill thereselfs and its not his fault that they are poor.....so bitch take your shit somewhere else because its not his problem.....maybe if people got jobs they wouldnt be poor and maybe if people didnt hate themself they wouldnt kill them selfs......lets see you give up all your money for someone poor.....shitty fuck

    That seems like a lot of money, but buying yourself gifts is not bad, in fact is pretty good. Treat yourself, love yourself
