Inn origin post preparing shipment for over 3 weeks

I live in the US, and I ordered a package from Russia a month ago. It shipped a month ago and since April 10th USPS site says "Origin post preparing shipment." Since then the Russian post has said it left the sorting center. When I called USPS, they were not able to track my package (this was both times I called them), so they connected me to international. International says that my package was still in Russia. The estimated delivery is on or before May 6th. May 6th is four days from now and my package is still in Russia? I'm deathly afraid that this package will never get to me. Is this normal? Should I wait until May 6th? If I need to get my money back, how do I go about doing it?

If you did not buy this item through a reputable seller such as Amazon, you've probably lost your money. Russia is 1000 times more corrupt than China and I wouldn't do business there ever.
The scariest part is if you used a credit card, you will probably get your identity stolen to boot. Just this week a Russian gang hacked 1.3 MILLION people's info.
Good luck, you could get lucky.

    • Thing is, I don't think it's in Russia anymore. Tracking says that it got through Russia's customs and has been dispatched and the last USPS update says that "origin is preparing shipment". My fear is that it is in the US somewhere. Maybe stuck in customs or lost somewhere but USPS hasn't helped me at all. Only international has been able to track my package and they have the same info as me.

It means that the origin Post is preparing a shipment for dispatch. basically manifesting packages heading for the US. Most often, a foreign post office will merge all of the packages going to one country and list a manifest of each individual package and their tracking numbers, if applicable.

Once the container is full enough, it is passed to be dispatched. When the container is scanned, the status of all of the packages on the manifest will update.
