Information with no use to us :o

So i was having a conversation a day or so ago well many conversations actually about rather seemingly pointless information about people i dont know or will never meet. yes you guessed it woman's mindless gosip :L. yet i always find myself listening so intensely yet as i listen i always wonder why... why do i need to know what use is this 2 me... for example....

****their cousin's neighbour's sister's dogwalker whose just got out of hospital because she had a growth on her knee? I listen, but I always wonder why I'm being told this information.

or my own about a workmates(a lady obviously) telling me about her best friends sister's friend whos having arguments with another of her besties sisters friends over them not spending enough time together because of her besties sister's friends boyfriend god damn yet all the while im listening mainly trying to get my head around it but why do i need to know this.

so basically i want to hear you stories of this or even better woman why do you tell us these things :O

    I HATE gossip. <BR><BR>Let's examine this: you say you don't care about what they are saying, but do you realize they don't care what you're saying either? So....it's all a bunch of people talking and no one cares about it. <BR><BR>I find it so funny how people will make fake compliments to someone (oh, nice skirt!while making a gagging motion) and then when someone complements them, they actually believe. It just doesn't connect in people's heads, I find it magical....very funny.<BR><BR>I opt out. It's all so fake and does nothing for me. I prefer having a few good people around me rather than a gaggle of fucktards. To each their own. <BR><BR>I read in Ann Landers 20 years ago: A person of high intelligence talks about ideas. A person of average intelligence talks about things. A person of low intelligence talks about other people.

      to be fair i didnt even need to know half of that &gt;.&lt; why go into such detail &gt;.&lt;. this is also what i mean unfortunately.

    Ugh, I listen and try to act like I'm interested. I'm attentive and ask questions and everything.

    But when I try to share any of my stories, they don't listen! >.<

    Unless the person is close to me ( ex:my bf or close friend ) and i'm disturbed/sad about something that someone did, no i won't talk about others to simple acquaintance. Because in fact they do not care about gossip. Positive or not they just don't want to hear it.

    People tell me all manner of who friggin cares! I just try to politley listen and inch away. I'm busy, man! I don't really talk to people all that much so I don't tell them what they don't care or need to hear, especially guys. Most of them have their minds elsewhere, I'm sure.

    I hate gossip like this..
    I usually mind my own business. I still gain facts on people I know through observations but i don't learn about people that have nothing to do with my life. Why does it matter to me that my best friend's exes new gf and he are having a baby? I'll never see him again. Good luck to them but idc.

    I don't tell stories like that unless it relates to the topic we're talking about. E.g. if someone told me they watched Donnie Darko the other day, it would remind of someone else and how they borrowed it from the DVD store for 3 weeks. I don't usually intend for it to come out, just does.
