In the 70s/80s, was it normal to 'make out' in front of the family?

Very bizarre childhood memory - Christmas party at our aunt's house, lots of relatives there... on the livingroom couch in the middle of where everyone was standing, my teenage cousin was laying on top of her boyfriend making out with him. Another time it was my other cousin doing the same thing. My friend's brother was also doing this at one point. Again, in full view of family members, who acted as if it was normal.

Was it normal at the time, or were they stupid teenagers trying to mimic movies and not realizing how inappropriate it was?

    I was born in 1963, so, I remember that time WELL....I was probably one who was making out.

    Anyway, NEVER in front of Mom and Dad!!! Hell no. But, in front of brothers and sisters? Sure...as long as they weren't gonna TELL on you.

    My sister used to ram her hand down her BF pants while we were in the room. Very odd. She is still a twisted sick fuck.

    There is always one in every family.

    I guess it depends on the attitudes of the family and the area. That kind of stuff never happened around where my dad grew up, Lots of Catholic families, strict households.

    Now, the teens still partied and whatnot, but well away from family. you had to be careful, or else the parents and or Church might get on you. Even the cops gave my dad the option when he got pulled over "I can give you a ticket, or call your parents" his response, "just give me the ticket"

    So no, that kinda thing would not fly in that area.

    I'm old enough to remember the 70s and 80s (yeah I know that dates me) and such behavior was certainly never normal in my family or among any people I knew.

    In order to get away with "doing things" in front of the family you had to be secretly turned on by something that was so far off the beaten path that others wouldn't even recognize it as sexual. Yes, I speak from experience.
