Immigrants in this country??

Just very quickly I would like some opinions here people. I want the bad and even the good. I was brought into this country when I was 3 by my parents , and have been in the united states since. My parents didnt apply for citizenship during amnesty because my grandfather was sick and we moved back to mexico for a short while. Then when we came back it was impossible. I go to college here and live a normal life ... There are a few exceptions though ... I can't drive , I can't legally work here and I could quite possibly be deported .... To all the people who think I should get "sent" back , I ask you , Is it really fair???

My question for YOU op is why do you feel the need to be here?
by you, I mean the various immigrants from your country.

Why do so many of you want to immigrate here?

I'm not racist, just very blunt, so excuse this BUT- I've asked this question before and I get the nonsense about opportunities etc. and that's lovely, but isn't it running from your problems and a bit selfish?

Think about it, rather than fixing your own country whether it be through voting or a gosh damn revolution, you are running away to save yourself. And cause problems in this country.

I just feel that in your case it's simple. You should register to be a citizen. I mean what you are doing, by living here without taxes, is ridiculous. And you deserve to be sent back because you aren't paying your way like the rest of us.

My heart breaks for you, but it's your responsibility to do something about it.

First off I do pay taxes. There is a number which I am assigned that I use to pay taxes with . It's like a SS number. Also I don't think ONE person can change the rules. So I am here until I finish college (which I am paying myself) and then if nothing has changed I will have to move back to find a job there. And im not running away to save myself. I feel American I have been here nearly all of my life (since pre-school). I don't think it's fair that I get sent to a country where I would be estranged. It's not fair and i think about it everyday but my choices are to stay here and finish college or move back to a place im not familiar with. I thank your opinion but I just think a reform is neccessary.

So you think it's wrong, tough. I'm sorry but that's the way it is, you are not American unless you are born here or choose to become a citizen. It's black and white.

As of yesterday my boyfriend suggested we get married and put this whole thing behind us. SO finally I will get citizenship without moving to Mexico through the loop hole of marriage. SO you see it is black and white unless I marry a citizen . And another thing ... Not once did you place yourself in my shoes did you? No, your response was it's black and white go back because your'e breaking the law try picturing yourself in someone elses shoes before you go on saying " tough thats just the way it is."

well to answer your question...the fact that you are going to college and actually want to do something with your life qualifies you...as I see it...as an American citizen...unlike most immigrant and Americans for that fact...who are lazy as sh*t and don't contribute to anything at all....I have no respect for lazy ass free riding illegal immigrants or Americans....the legal hard working immigrants and Americans I do have respect for...I can say this because there are a lot of illegal immigrants in my family because most of my family are trailer trash pieces of sh*t who f*uck illegal Mexicans for some reason...and I hope they deport their mexican asses...them specifically....and the reason I get pissed off about this is because we...as Americans are screwed up as it is...we have tooooo many problems of our own...we dont need to worry about other nations problems...but we always take on more than we can handle...dumbas*es....second I hate when people use the excuse "America was founded on immigrants" that may be true...who gives a flying sh*t...I was born on this soil...so what my great great grandparents did has no effect on me...I should damn well have more rights than an illegal immigrant...when they are getting scholarships over me...even though I earned it....fuck em....but I wish you luck...just stay under the radar...and hopefully one day you will change this country for the better.....

Thank you for your input. I agree with everything you had to say up until the scholarship bit. I am also trying to get a scholarship to help pay for college. The part were I disagree is where you say that immigrants are getting scholarships over you .. To clarify that statement there aren't many scholarships out there for people like me. And the ones that don't require a SS number require a GPA of 3.5 or higher and require good academic standing all throughout highschool and college. Luckily I am smart enough to qualify , my point however is that those scholarships are not easy to come by. And it is because of those scholarships that I can afford for college since I am not eligible for FAFSA or any other government money. Thank you for taking the time to respond.

If you're here illegally then yes you should be deported back. Don't take offence it's just my opinion.

Are you American(US)? Since what you are saying is completely wrong. Being born in a country as a child makes you a legal citizen but makes your parents illegal. Even if you are so concerned get citizen ship. You grew up in the country. So its not like you are not smart enough to pass the test. You sound really lazy and stupid.

I'm American.... I say, get the fuck out of here. I've lived here most of my life...until the day I settled in Ireland for that year....ahhhhh Ireland....europe in general, and several other places, are not only better, but nicer to immigrants.

I think you should try your best to become a citizen. You sound like a great citizen. What irks me are the immigrants that bring their drug violence mentality, refuse to learn English and think we are the ___holes. I'm sick of products being sold in stores that have English and Spanish on the labels. Learn the language. And I'm not just speaking of Hispanics. I could go on and on, my soap box is so full.

Not insulting u but, how could u afford a computer or internet phone if u are an illegal? Also, if you are paying taxes and working for normal wage then i could agree with you staying in the US, otherwise i would say go back to mexico (unless u were working to do somthing crazy like pay for your family to be saved from a mob boss). If you can stay in the US then i would be alright with it.

Your'e not insulting me , but I can afford all of these things because I have been in the country since I was 2 years old . My dad makes a living as a landscape artist and makes about 150,000 a year which is pretty good considering he is an immigrant also. I work an average job that pays me 8.75 an hour and going to college full-time . I have already decided that if a reform doesn't come soon I will marry my boyfriend, who is a citizen, so that i can get a real job when I get out of school. Not saying that I would marry him solely for that benefit , Ive been with him for more than 5 years and I love him very much. Any way thanks for posting , I'm glad your not like some people who would rather send me back to a country where I dont know anybody. I mean I was a baby when I was brought here it's not my fault that I like it more here because this is where i grew up.

If you are here illegally? Then yes.

  • I think, in the end, you have to respect the laws and rules that make any country sovereign. You are doing the student thing, which says much about how our nations want to share access to education. But you are not entitled to more, and if you want more, then go through the proper channels.

If you're here illegally, you should leave. It's not that I don't want you here, really. Just come here the right way and everything will be fine. Good luck though.

I see your point , honestly . But I mean go where? I don't have any living family in Mexico or a place to stay. My brother turns 18 in a month (he is a U.s cit) therefore my parents will become citizens because of him. The only out of this situation is for me to go back to Mexico and try and apply for a visa( this might take a few years) Or I could get married. I really don't want to do it this way because I don't want my boyfriend to think that I am in it for the wrong reasons. For the record I know his might seem weird but my english is far better than my spanish and i'm afraid I coudn't make it in Mexico without family or friends....

I am a first generation in this country - not only did my dad and his family face MAJOR prejudice (Commie, Nazi were very common, even though these were the people chasing them out of the country) they still all applied for, paid for, and took the citizenship test. My grandfather prided himself and his children on not taking the "easy" way out and living here illegally. And my best friend Dao (who is Hmong) came here when she was 2 and still had to pay to take the test when she turned 18. She did it because she wanted to be an American on paper. No problem taking the test, it cost $198 and she studied her butt off because, after all, we did attend the same high school and I didn't remember anything.

I think that what the U.S. Gov. is doing to you is wrong and that you have equal rights. I mean not drive a car??????? thats crazy, what do they think ur gonna do?

  • It sucks that you weren't born here. I think you should get a fake ID and fake security card so you can atleast pay taxes and get a job, or marry an American. I don't think it's fair that you can't legally become a US citizen easier. This country was founded by immigrants therefore it should stay the land of opportunity for all who apply.

If our leaders had any common sense they would try to help the Mexican government get it's shit together and help Mexico get on it's feet and then we wouldn't have such a problem. It's not a problem in my opinion, let me let you in on a little secret....White Americans who don't like immigrants are afraid they won't be the majority anymore, that's all it is, fear.

you have to look at t from different purspectives. in enland (were i live) a lot of polish people are eager to do jobs for less this is putting people out of employment which isn't the greatest thing yet the pols are trying to seek better lives, each human has a right to that.

i think the best thing to do is not to brag about it and keep your head down and maybe talk to people who are against it and explain your side of the story.
