You have a good heart, but most people wouldn't want anyone feeling sorry for them. It can make people feel like crap.
My room mate is a wheelie (his term not mine) and he doesn't want anyone feeling sorry for him.
Wheelie wheelie stupid head bet you wish that you were dead.....oh...too much.
That's empathy.
But hey, if it cheers you up: when person A wins the lottery, and person B loses his legs, they'll both be exactly as happy within six months.
Don't feel too sorry for them. They're still capable of having fullfilling lives.
