Im black and all so like almost every other one I should like rap music, rnb, etc. However I have a HUGE interest Linkin Park, Fall Out Boy, BFMV, rock and metal - stuff like that. When I go to concerts theres so little black people and I feel like the odd one out. In music videos ive only seen ONE black guy in the band, I forgot the named cause they sucked xD Sometimes I even hate myself over my colour and wish I could kill myself and come back as someone who's appearance suits his characters. So the questions here are.

Is it normal to be black and like rock music.

Is it normal to want to have interests to match his race.

      Sounds like you have a case of self identity disorder.....very common ....i had it. I would suggest to sit down with yourself and decide what makes u happy. Surround yourself with friends white or black that allow you to be u. Its a matter of not getting caught up with that self doubting voice in your head. That voice is not you and you can turn it off. You make decisions and decide to be happy not that voice that sits in your head and does nothing.....its not real. That voice you must turn off. Now is real.....time is real....life is real...so dont waste it..hope that helps a little...take care.:)

    I'm a total country girl...it's kind of weird being the only Hawaiian at truck pulls and rodeos. I'm used to it now though.

    Man, just think of all the white people who listen to reggae and rap.....pretty sure they are "normal" if you can define normal that is, you're a perfect human being in your own way, everyone is. Be happy for what you are what you like do not let others frown bring you down!

    i think your pretty cool to be black and like rock music but i think your gay for sayin that you wanna kill yourself and come back as im sure you meant "white", and liking fall out boy is even gayer. I think the band you were talkin about that has a black lead singer is probably hootie and these blowfishez or sevendust! accept yourself man uniqueness never goes out of style bro! ps bad brains is the best and theyre all A.A.!!

    I too agree with gunstarbob.
    Get over the color issue. I am a caucasion woman, and can empathise with any person who has been discriminated agaist because of race, religion, sexuality, etc. In today's day and age, and the amazing election of President Obama, it's high time that especially our younger generations take the bull by the horns and stop allowing outside influences dictate who you shall be.

    If you like something, love it, nurture it, and it will grow. Be who you are and surround yourself with like-minded individuals as well, become more confident. For god sake's we now have a black-American president in our American society, that should tell you something about how our US and world is changing.

    You have all the right emotions, feelings, get with it and start living your life, do things that make you happy, so long as they come from a "good place."

    I am also going through unrelated perhaps similar experience now. What I have learned is not to let negativity impede my way. You decide what makes you happy, not anyone else, not society, not the color of your skin.

    You're going to have a great life once you overcome some of these things holding you back. That is what I keep telling myself every day and look forward to all of the wonderful possibilities. Thanks for your post, it also got me thinking and was a reminder to me how precious every human being is. You are the most important person in your world, so cherish yourself and be good to yourself, be happy.

    well i'm a nigger and i grew up on Prince and Biggie,the ghetto boys ect. now i listen to hinder, fallout boy, I set my friends on fire, Scissor sisters, and even country music[my mom loves it]..mabey its where we live that affects us...so many people r open minded

    it is normal for black to like rock. i'm mexican/puerto rican and i like girly music, like hilary duff and some rock but i do listen to spanish music. some people make fun of me too but i don't listen to them. i like what i like its not my fault if i dont like something that's part of my race, so dont worry about it

    For the last fucking time. Colors are not an identification of reality. Skin does not determine personality. You are black as are many others be proud of who you are. Who cares if you like rock music? Your a person do whatever you want. Stop being poisoned by society, it makes you sound weak.

      dude just be you, at least you don't think about people dying everytime you get irritated. I would rather have a black friend that listens to rock then rap, that shows your not the average sterotypical black person, and that is what makes you unique.
