No, this is not normal. There are many reasons for this. You could be anemic (low iron). Some of your vitamins may be way low (potassium, vitamin D, etc). This could also be due to the types of foods you are eating (fast foods and simple carbs such as soda, chips, burgers & fries can trigger a very rapid drop in energy after eating). Caffeine dehydrates your system which can cause tiredness (even though some think it is an energy-booster, it will eventually drop you quicker). You could have an increased amount of white blood cells which could mean several things. You could have sleep apnea. I would start drinking lots of water, eat good quality foods (protein, fruit, vegies), and see a doctor for some blood tests. Good luck to you.

Its normal in the sense that it happens to a LOT of people, but its not normal in the sense that its what your body should be doing. You shouldn't be tired. Either you're not getting enough sleep, or you have a condition such as sleep apnea.

    Low Blood Sugar? Diabetic? Depression?
Go see a doctor for some tests and blood work! (psych eval)

    Lol,
same thing happned to me.. I was verrry active in hs. And now not so much. It is possible you have an mild iron deficency which I found out I have, just make sure to take a multivitamin every day and see if that helps. Also, ever heard of CoQ10? Gives me lots of natural feeling energy with no crash and an all over goood feeling. Look into that as well.

As for being tired, you're probably just not as active as you were in highschool.

Yes it is. This happened to me. I was eventually diagnosed with Epstein barr. It's a form of mono. I'd see a dr.

you might have narcolepsy/sleep apnea... i guess i have it, from what the symptoms suggest - it's a disorder where you can doze off to sleep just about anywhere, and constantly feel tired, and if given the chance will sleep right in your chair. you're definitely not lazy... you might need to do a serious lifestyle/sleep pattern change. doctors suggest getting up and sleeping at a set time, and not drinking any sweet/caffeinated stuff before you sleep. apparently it gets worse as you get older, so try to get it checked, and if you can, try to get it treated naturally. i'm still working on mine, and i've managed to have a lot of bright days. hope it'll work out for you.

i agree with the previous speaker - Sandmansgirl. besides, take a test for helminths. sometimes they can cause a long-time tiredness.

You can also over-sleep. See a MD if it bothers you so.

It gets even worse when you have a baby and have to wake up several times at night.

Same thing happened to me. I've gone to several doctors to see about it, and have had so many tests done, it's insane. They never did find the problem. So, I have resulted to caffiene to keep me awake. I'm like the energy drink queen. It sucks, but at least they keep me from falling asleep at my desk.
