Is it normal very intense fear of tall buildings?

Weird phobia time.

Very tall building creep me the f... out. I cant stand looking up at them, I can't bear to even be on the ground near them, going in one would probably make me freak out. Don't even get me started on glass elevators that go high up. I feel absolute terror at the thought of being on top of one. My palms are sweating and my legs buckling just typing this out.

The really strange thing though...

I've trekked up and down mountains and LOVED it, enjoyed the view, been totally calm on planes, I'm fine near cliffs. It's literally ONLY tall man-made structures that seem to bring on this sudden terror of heights, and I can't explain it.

It's a life-limiting fear as well. I'm a city person at heart, I love fast-paced urban life, but naturally most large cities have these monstrosities so I would have to avoid certain areas. I also love travelling and would love to see New York one day, but know I'd never, practically, be able to with my condition.

I have the same type of phobia. But mine is not as intense. I lived and worked in Manhattan for several years. Worked in the Howard building across the street from Grand Central. An old relic of a skyscraper that is still standing to this day. I forced myself to come to terms with my fears for economic reasons. And there is therapy for what you suffer from. Because your phobia is a common one. You are far from being alone in this. Get help. I did.
