Is it normal to work for to buy more music?

What I mean is I like collecting all kinds of music but around town I get the vibe that many people have a very limited musical repertoise...they stick to one genra, small # of groups, etc.......in fact I have felt looked down upon, or bad vibes from being musically diverse...

Sometimes it seems that the less musically diverse you are...the more perks you get...be it sex or money...what I mean is I get the vibe that if you know a few groups very very well you get more respect than if you just love collecting lots of music...

Personally I prefer having diverse knowledge of music to for example exploiting one or a few bands or solo musicians lyrics for financial or sexual gain...Mostly I just love listenening..I have a vintage VOM tube amplifier, and Jensen Speakers with Horn tweeters, that sound fabulous..

P.S-I know more about the Grateful Dead than any other band or musician and I still consider them very good, but they are one among many for me now...

    I don't really understand this question. I don't think anyone really cares how many bands you are into. Not to sound shitty. I just think you're overanalyzing this. Seems silly to me.
