Is it normal to wonder why schools stopped doing talent shows and science fairs

I noticed something which I think would have been fun but they stopped doing them. Schools stopped doing talent shows and science fairs. I wonder why this is not a practice anymore. I mean should children not be encouraged to show their talent and show off ideas? You could have a gifted child and not realize it but such things are not really encouraged anymore.

Socialist societies don't reward individualism or personal thought or hard work. Keep voting for these fools.

    • Half the people did not vote for the socialists.

It's sad when only half the people find this unacceptable.

Or, it could be an issue with lack of proper management and staff. My mother's mother once told us that the school where she subs wouldn't have their talent show for that year, because their wasn't a music teacher. The guy either left or got fired and they must not have replaced him. Another teacher was mentioned, and apparently the fault mainly landed on her. Why, I can't remember, but it did. Apparently, there were a lot of talented children who were very upset that they couldn't showcase their skills, but surely there are other opportunities that allow for this?

        • Most schools are not properly organized despite the fact they are mandated. They teach with one method and if you don't follow the method or don't understand the method they label you unteachable.

The students they feel cant teach anything are taught at a 3rd grade level till graduation. Why when most kids graduate they are not very intelligent and cant even pass the university entrance exams.

Though this is no where as bad when the regular curricular teaches at a third grade level till children graduate. So instead of having a hand full of uneducated children all children doing well or not has very little education.

They waste money on too many unnecessary classes and cut things like sports before they question why they have 20 math classes. Half that do not actually count as the required classes to graduate.

They have also been given abilities to feed children healthier food for cheaper than frozen meals and completely rejected it. The PE never pushes kids since parents complain and never do anything that will actually keep kids fit.

Along with this at home most children don't get exercise either and so remain on the computer or electronics. Than people wonder why the world is getting so fucking fat in these conditions. Its pretty clear why its happening they just don't feel like stopping it.

I was already aware about the fact that the system was corrupted, I just never knew that it was corrupted to this extent. Why don't more people protest? Or, maybe, other countries that have their systems working properly can intervene.

            • People do not protest since the schools CLAIM they are doing it to help. However people do not realize that by cradling children this badly that they are auctully doing more harm than good. The child is lets say a few lessons behind the class they are demoted to learning 5 grades behind. Is that helping?

No, but people have the perception it is. However since that child is put 5 grades levels behind they are passing the class. So what did the schools just do? Help that child pass. The child is passing but are they learning? No! but it looks good on record that the child DID PASS.

Even if the point is to teach the child not simply HAVE THEM PASS. In PE lets say 3 out of 10 kids have Asthma. 3 out of 10 kids can not run. So the whole class has to do Asthma safe activities. Now, no I am not saying children are bad for being sick.

However if they truly wanted to help they would take the kids with medical issues and give them medical safe activities to assure they are not getting hurt. While doing regulaur activities with the other children. However the way they deal with this is simply not doing real excersises or stuff that is not really keeping children healthy. which is not good at all.

When I was in high school we didn't have to pay to take AP classes. Now my brother is in high school and my parents have to pay money so he can take an AP class. Things change

    • It was the same for our schools too.

When it comes to school talent shows, I've noticed the exact opposite. My school had never had one until they started a few years before I left, and now it's an annual thing. I've never had a school science fair though, maybe it's more of an American thing, but I suspect it would have been fun.

Not that I think it's a big deal - kids have plenty of other ways to express their talents.
