Is it normal to wish to beat my dad?

My mom has serious type 2 diabetes so I am always aware that she can't eat the same things as my other family members do. One day, I found a diabetes-friendly dessert recipe which my mom found delicious. I make it a couple times, and my dad seemed to enjoy watching my mom happy, too. So before my mom came home, I decided to make the dessert. When my dad came home first, he saw me putting the bread into the oven and asked me what it was. When I told him excitedly, he suddenly yells at me saying, "DON'T EVER DO THIS AGAIN, I ALREADY DO PLENTY OF WORK FOR YOUR MOTHER, DO YOU THINK SHE'S STARVING OR SOMETHING, IS SHE GOING TO DIE OF HUNGER? WORRY ABOUT YOUR OWN SHIT AND DO YOUR HOMEWORK INSTEAD, I DON'T NEED YOUR HELP!"

I cried at the sudden response and threw out the bread. It was so sudden and I don't think I did anything wrong. I really wanted to beat him up, is this normal?

    Has he,
    1. Abused you more than once verbally or physically?
    2. Abused your mother verbally or physically?
    3. Has he had a sudden case of raging asshole lately?
If you awnsered yes to any of these questions, it's 100% normal.
I've wanted to beat the pulp out of my mom when she's being a complete and total bitch sometimes (excuse my language) but I've never actually done it.
I do find it a bit harsh if he just yelled at you, and maybe he had a hella' bad day at work or something, but if this keeps up, let your mother know, and try and tell her that he yelled at you that night/nights.
