Is it normal to wish something bad would happen for a golden opportunity?

Right now I'm struggling to make ends meet, and sometimes I can't help but kinda wish something bad would happen that might present a golden opportunity.

For example, let's say that there's a criminal who just kidnapped someone and the police are tracking him down. I just checked the news for a description of the kidnapper and sure enough I know who he is. I then track him down myself, catch the kidnapper, and save the hostage in hopes of receiving a big reward. Stuff like that.

Before you might get the wrong idea about me, I can assure you that I don't support this way of thinking and that I'm not an immature adult. This is just something I kinda fantasize about because I'm struggling and need extra cash.

Is this normal?

I've never put much stock into hoping something good would come my way, and definitely never at the expense of another.

At least you'd like to save the hostage in the process. Who cares if your motive was for the money, it's a win/win.

I guess that sounded kind of bad. Do I think this kind of thing is acceptable? No. But to have fantasies like that is normal, I'm sure many of us have thought about different ways to make money that may be pollitically incorrect.
