Is it normal to want to kill someone?

This is a fun post.

My girlfriend recently admitted to me that her biological dad was very close to raping her (he just chose to rape her mom). He is far away from her and her mother but he is still somehow still accepted on his side of the family and her siblings (even one that knew shit was going on) I promised her that if I caught him either beating (or worse) her or her mom I would kill him.

I'm not a violent person. I dont get physical when I get angry or drunk. But her dad is definitely on my to kill list if it comes to it.

Anyone else have specific people that you would have zero ethical problems with killing?

There are some things worse than killing people, but killing is one of the worst things one can do. Harming someone is not nearly as bad as killing someone, for example. There are only a few times in which it is considered the moral decision to kill someone. This does not sound as if it is one of those cases. By the way, don't tell people when you downvote; just do it if you insist upon it.

    • Oh yeah I have a few ideas for non lethal ways to remove him from everyone's lives. Not sharing them because they are somehow worse than just killing the guy.

Nothing you can directly do to someone else is worse than killing them.

Making someone kill themself is still killing them, if done intentionally.

            • Well them killing themselves is a choice. Cause if I do this to them the choice would seem pretty ideal.

To kill someone who does not pose a threat to the lives of others is terrible. He has not killed anyone, and it does not seem to me like he would intentionally kill anyone. You'd become worse than him by killing him.

    • He was sent to prison for strangling his wife (and made the wife and gf lie about his full extent of crime) so yeah hes not on my shit list hes on my destroy his life list. Hes getting out of prison soon and it is seriously stressing my gf out.

Now he's acually threatened someone's life. It's a little bit more excusable. However, the real question of the morality of killing someone is: "Have they purposefully threatened two peoples' lives?"

        • Yes he has and his very release from prison terrifies my gf beyond belief. Her mother is also deeply flawed and might actually go back with him. That's why I need to be vigilant against him.

    • Sarcasm is apparently dead.

I'm not going to go out of my way to kill him but if the opportunity arose such as him hitting my gf I will kill him.
