Is it normal to want to be with someone who has children?

I'm a 20 year old sophomore in college right now and I need help with something. I met this girl my age who also goes to college here at my university who I really like and enjoy spending time with. I've dating around a while and this girl is pretty much perfect. The only troubling thing is the fact that she has a 2 year old baby. She became pregnant in high school and kept her daughter as she goes to college (she commutes). She doesn't want me to meet her daughter or want me to become a father figure or anything, but I'm really torn on what to do. I could end it now so this doesn't get complicated or I could see where it goes. I'm by no means ready to become a father, or take up that responsibility so is it norm that I'm thinking of staying with her?

Tough call, it's a huge responsibility and she sounds pretty smart not letting you near her until you make a bigger commitment.

Knowing what I know now, I would never do such a thing, but we're all different and it may work out for you. However, if you're feeling not ready for the parenthood thing then I wouldn't commit more. That doesn't mean you can't continue to see her if she's up for that, but if she's issuing an ultimatum I'd run the other way.

I've lived in relationships with children around, and especially if you aren't the biological parent it makes things awkward, like you're expected to contribute financially to raising some other man's spawn, but don't you dare try to discipline it. That sort of thing will tear the romantic relationship apart.

Its not fair to you to be with someone that has a kid they need to date someone in that pool area there are some relationships that work but majority don't . I dated a few guys with kids neither ended well let the odds be in your favor.
