Is it normal to want speak truth at a funeral or in a obituary

I was asked to give a eulogy for my father in law and instead of giving a candy ass boring eulogy.I think the obit page in the newspaper would be much more fun if people were honest about what kind of asshole the dead people were.I decided to spice it up and include all kinds of juicy embarrassing bits about his life.I gleaned them from enemies and his drinking buddies and parsonel expariances that I am embellished..I want people to know who he really was . It totally backfired and people thought it was in bad taste to talk like that about the dead.Apparantly two of the guys I talked to are pathological liars. It seems the more I live the more I alieneat my family. Now my m-I-l dislikes me even more and so does most of the family.Everyone thinks it is because my teenage son is no longer wants anything to do with me and has sadly chose to live with him.His zits look even worse now.

Normal to want to, but really stupid to do so: of course that will alienate people, especially as you were silly enough to use secondhand information without checking it out and then embellish it, ie, tell lies.

Awesome story. Eulogies should include life experiences. The two guys you talked to aren't pathological liars.

I've hired professional cryers for my funeral. Yup, it's all about your name carved in stone.
