Is it normal to want shorter than normal hair?

For a few months I've realized all girls in my grade have long hair and all the boys have considerably short hair except for the troublemaking group. I don't want to join the group and currently have a over grown bob cut, I'm thinking of cutting it into a pixie cut or something shorter for the last week of school. I don't like being the same a everyone else, but I don't want to be thought of as a trouble maker.
