Maybe.
It's not the same as therapy because in therapy you receive unconditional positive regard from the psychologist and the goal is to give you coping techniques for life that will help you after the therapy has ended. A psychologist is trained at spotting the incongruencies in your thought patterns and expose them to you so that you can begin to address them.
On sites like this one people are sharing experiences, which can be helpful too. One of the disadvantages is that the advice given is often based on the biased opinions of those who have no real experience dealing with the issues that plague you. Not only that but many of the individuals offering advice, who actually do have experience on whatever topic you're asking about, aren't mentally healthy or functioning. It's feedback, at best. Be cautious about accepting that feedback as therapy.
Yes. I do the same thing. It's nice to get advice from various people about things and it also lets me know the difference between things I do that everyone else does vs. things I do that are just me. I have gained a lot of insight from this website. I understand it attracts other odd people but that's actually a good thing because normal people often do not have good advice on things they have never dealt with.
BlahTherapy is the best therapy site .. chat for as long as you like for free :) sorts me out when im feeling messed up :)
I've done it. I also get advice from other sites. I don't really considered it therapy anymore.
